YOU WANT TO IMPROVE EDUCATION TO YOUTH???

These are areas that need our attention if we really want to improve education for our youths. Some difficult questions which we have to ask ourselves are:
1.      What is the role of a teacher in Tanzania?
2.      Which position our teachers are standing in terms of remunerations in this country?
3.      Are they given resources necessary to deliver?

We are not sure how far educations Authorities are ready to solve these teaching problems.  For instance: there is a delay in processing teachers’ salary; the number of pupils in both primary and secondary schools has been increased. In order for our students to get quality education, qualified and motivated teachers are highly needed. Many people assume that an increase in enrolment in schools and universities would correspond to an increase in literates and qualified personnel in the country. It possible only if proper training is done to educators and the curriculum reflects the demand of the market and the society and finally the teachers have to be well motivated in order to deliver good results.

This program covers teachers in primary and secondary schools, awards program every year with the aim of awarding best teacher in both government and private schools. This award will focus teachers in all levels primary school, secondary schools in Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar Island. For the year 2012 as pilot test the program will involve teachers only in primary and secondary school in Tanzania mainland after then it will be reviewed to comprise other levels including Zanzibar Island.

Teachers will have equal opportunity to participate and win the award based on the prescribed sets of standards which are carefully selected to compliment the relevant type of teachers required in our country. Sampling of teachers for the award will comprise teachers from different schools with different characteristics from all genders, including the disabled community and of all genders for the purpose of making the Award competition inclusive and attractive to the stakeholders.
